Yes! All One Hit Wonder paint colors can be made available in a Boat Kit. If you have a different color in mind, please contact us directly!
Clean all surfaces with warm soapy water, or a solvent-based degreaser, depending on how dirty your boat is. Once dry, all you need to do is scuff, and wipe clean with a tack cloth. A step-by-step application guide is included with all orders.
Just clean and scuff as above. If the paint is old and flaking, you must remove any flaking areas beforehand.
No. One Hit Wonder paint has been designed to be sprayed directly on all metals, plastics, glass, etc. It NEVER needs a primer. In fact, the primer would become the weakest link for adhesion. If you want to use a primer base to help with coverage, especially if you are painting a lighter color over a dark surface, we recommend applying a basecoat of One Hit Wonder in white first.
You do not need to add reducer or adhesion promoter to One Hit Wonder paint.
The mix ratio is 8:1, or 8 parts One Hit Wonder paint to 1 part Hardener. For example: One Quart of Paint requires 1/4 Pint of Hardener One Gallon of Paint requires 1 Pint of Hardener
Usually, a good rule of thumb is a quart at a time to avoid wastage. For your convenience, the paint is shipped in quart containers (1 gallon=4 quart cans) to make mixing easier.
At 70 degrees, you have about 4 hrs before the paint starts to harden in your spray gun. If it’s cooler, the time increases. If it is warmer, the time decreases.
Use an automotive spray gun with a 1.3 or 1.4 tip, around 22psi with the trigger pulled in halfway. A step-by-step instruction guide will be included with your order.
NO! These sprayers are meant for water-based house paints only - the heating element in the gun can ignite solvent-based paint fumes, and explode.
Usually only 2 coats for full coverage, however, if you are using a pigment-light color, such as yellow over a black base, it will take significantly more. In this case, we recommend spraying the boat white first.
If you can paint the second coat within 24 hours you should be fine without scuffing, especially for things like spraying stencils.
Generally, you have about 24 hours before needing to scuff. Once the paint has fully cured (about 48 hours), you will need to scuff before applying more paint.
Acetone, urethane reducer, or lacquer thinner. Acetone is usually the least expensive.

*HDPE plastics require flame treatment for ANY paint application. How can you tell if a plastic is HDPE? Check for a stamp, ask the manufacturer, or do an acetone test (rub a small amount in a hidden spot and if the plastic reacts at all - becomes sticky, matte, etc. it is not HDPE and you can paint on it directly.)

All paint applications require proper surface preparation including cleaning, scuffing, and wiping the part with a scotch pad and tack cloth (both included).
Stir One Hit Wonder paint well. Combine 8 parts One Hit Wonder paint with 1 part Hardener. Mix well. Strain the mixture into a spray gun using a disposable mesh paint filter (included).
Set gun pressure to around 22 psi, with the trigger pulled in halfway. Using a 1.3 or 1.4 tip, apply a coat of One Hit Wonder (mixed with Hardener). If part is not fully covered apply a second coat after 5-10 minutes or once the first coat is dry to the touch.
We recommend at least 48 hours of cure time before loading your boat on a trailer or launching to avoid failure of the coating.
